Are You Ready to Buy a Home? Meet with Your Agent and Lender First

When we decide to buy a home, the first thing we usually do is open Zillow, browse listings, and start dreaming about our future home…
But before falling in love with the perfect house, there’s something even more important:
knowing where you are in the process.
And the best way to find that out is by meeting with two key people: your real estate agent and your lender.
Why Meet with Your Agent Before You Start Looking?
Because an agent doesn’t just show you houses.
They help you understand how the process works, what steps come next, and what you need to be ready.
Sometimes, after an honest conversation, you’ll realize you’re closer than you thought… or that you may need a little more time to prepare — and that’s completely okay!
The Lender: Your Financial Ally
Your lender will review your income, credit history, debts, and savings.
With that information, they can provide a pre-approval letter — a document that clearly tells you how much home you can afford and what type of loan you qualify for.
Getting pre-approved gives you two key advantages:
- You know your real budget before falling for a house.
- You’re a stronger buyer, because sellers see that you’re serious.
This Isn’t a Race — It’s a Process
Some people are ready to buy today.
Others may need a few months to work on their credit, save more, or stabilize their income.
Both are perfectly valid situations.
The goal isn’t to pressure you — it’s to support you, so you can make informed decisions at your own pace.
My advice:
Before you start looking at homes, let’s look at where you are.
And from there, we’ll build the best path toward your future home.
